Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology (Part-Time) responsible for receiving/preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests and calculations to aid diagnosis/treatment, ensuring quality control, calibrating and maintaining equipment, performing phlebotomy as needed, and maintaining patient data confidentiality. Requires a Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field and current Generalist license/certifications with within-90-day eligibility for licensure/certification, strong data entry and analytical skills, and ability to follow regulatory guidelines and safety standards. Responsibilities also include adherence to accreditation standards, participation in proficiency testing, and ability to communicate findings clearly across care teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or Generalist Trainee permit or Lab Assistant license) and must obtain Generalist license within 90 days of hire
- ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist within 90 days of hire (or as specified)
- Must have computer skills and proficiency with Windows-style applications
