Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist needed for full-time day shift in Topeka, KS. Responsibilities include performing a wide range of laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, immunology, microbiology, urinalysis and immunohematology; conducting analyses on patient samples using varied equipment and techniques; maintaining quality control and documentation; training and providing education to learners and staff; ensuring test results are accurate and in compliance with CLIA and hospital policies; troubleshooting questionable results and communicating with leadership. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1 year of specimen collection or testing experience; licensure/certification through ASCP (or eligible) and potential state licensure; ability to follow safety procedures and to operate and maintain laboratory equipment; strong attention to detail and proficiency in calculations and data interpretation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
- 1 year experience performing specimen collecting or testing
- ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist certification or eligible
- State licensure may be accepted
- Single-discipline technologist or specialist certification in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology may be considered depending on the position
