Job Summary
Process specimens, conduct testing across all laboratory sections, and manage workload prioritization. Perform phlebotomy, monitor pending logs, and resolve outstanding tests promptly. Execute quality control, quality assurance, and preventative maintenance on instruments while troubleshooting assay problems. Oversee point-of-care testing programs through site visits, audits, and proficiency testing coordination. Provide technical guidance to staff, evaluate performance checks, and implement corrective actions for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical errors. Collaborate with the Point of Care Testing Committee to evaluate test menus and optimize turnaround times. Maintain regulatory and accreditation compliance while participating in continuing education and departmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related biological/chemical science
- completion of an accredited clinical laboratory practicum or internship consistent with CLIA'88 requirements for high complexity testing
- Two years working in a clinical laboratory as MLS
- 4 years as MLT
- at least two years of high complexity testing
- One year of Laboratory experience at NMC preferred
- Proven technical skill and initiative
- Proven ability to function in a team-oriented environment
- Valid drivers license
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Nationally recognized MLS (preferred) or MLT certification required
- ASCP BOC preferred
