Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist in Flow Cytometry responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests and calculations to aid diagnosis, conducting quality control, calibrating and maintaining analytical equipment, and performing phlebotomy as appropriate. Requires Bachelor’s in medical/clinical laboratory sciences and current state license; ASCP/AMT/AAB generalist certification (or discipline certification for Academic Medical Center settings) with Certification Maintenance requirements. Must demonstrate strong data entry, software proficiency, analytical reasoning, communication, quality control and regulatory compliance capabilities. Will work in a healthcare laboratory environment with potential exposure to blood and pathogens; role includes adherence to safety, privacy, and compliance standards and may require flexible scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
- Current license in the state of practice (if applicable)
- ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist OR ASCP categorical or AAB individual discipline certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (if working in an Academic Medical Center facility)
- ASCP Certification Maintenance Program requirements (for incumbents certified by ASCP on or after Jan 1, 2004)
- Proficiency with Windows applications; data entry and retrieval of patient information
