Job Summary
Perform complex clinical laboratory tests in the Pathology Department, calibrate instruments, report results, and conduct quality controls. Prepare reagents and solutions, isolate and identify pathogens or abnormal blood components, and perform specialized hematologic and microbiology procedures. Interpret test results, discuss findings with physicians as needed, maintain accurate records, and assist in training new staff and students. Ensure proper specimen handling, quality control, and instrument maintenance. Maintain adherence to CLIA standards and participate in ongoing laboratory operations to support patient care and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a lab science or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards
- National certification by ASCP or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, or other recognized categorical certifications
- OR Eligible for national certification with ABHES/NAACLS or other approved programs
- Ability to operate and interpret tests across assigned laboratory sections
- Physical and visual dexterity; ability to stand for long periods
