Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist (Chemistry) performs analytical testing in the chemistry section to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include executing pre-analytic/workflow procedures, validating orders and specimen labeling, performing tests following SOPs, maintaining instrument performance and quality control, verifying results, communicating findings to physicians/nurses, and ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and ASCP certification or eligibility, with potential ASCP certification within one year of employment for hires after 1/19/2025; full-time night shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM) with rotating weekends/holidays at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certification examination.
- General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible
- Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible
- If hired after 1/19/2025 must be ASCP certified (or equivalent certification) within one year of employment
