Job Summary
Manage laboratory testing in a CLIA waived physician office lab by adhering to daily start-up/shut-down procedures, performing quality control checks, and processing patient specimens for various tests. Confirm specimen labeling, prepare samples for transport to the downtown lab or reference facility, and ensure timely entry of results and troubleshooting data into the laboratory information system. Monitor equipment temperatures, manage inventory par levels, and handle clinic vaccinations while maintaining clean work areas. Process STAT labs as needed and respond to inquiries via phone, email, and messaging. Perform weekly checklist duties, wash patient gowns, and ensure strict adherence to manufacturer directions, OSHA, and CLIA standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience functioning as a Medical Assistant in a clinic/hospital setting
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience functioning as a Phlebotomist in a clinic, hospital, or physician office setting
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience functioning as a Lab Assistant in a clinical diagnostic laboratory
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Ability to follow direction and communicate clearly
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to maintain organized and detailed records
- Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours a day
- Requires regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs
- Must be able to manipulate objects—reaching, grasping, handling
- Ability to delineate between numeric numbers
- Clinical setting; exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook email and Orchard Harvest applications
- Previous clinical laboratory experience
