Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability and perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation while preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls. Report accurate test results and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary and assist with specimen processing. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This three-week rotational schedule includes shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM across varying days.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Exceptional customer service
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Comfortable working under minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year or more of recent Blood Bank experience
