Job Summary
Conduct manual and automated chemistry testing, manage specimen handling, and prioritize results in accordance with LifeLabs procedures. Perform instrument maintenance, prepare reagents and controls, and address quality assurance indicators and non-conformances. Resolve specimen inquiries and ensure biohazardous materials are handled safely while maintaining a clean laboratory environment. Work Wednesday to Sunday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the OPSEU LAB in Toronto. Requires familiarity with APX, IntrLab, and Trackmaster systems; current Sample Management experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- WHMIS training
- Must be familiar and comfortable with APX and IntrLab systems
- Must have the ability to problem solve and resolve issues surrounding specimen inquiries (queries, pendings etc)
- Must have current Sample Management experience including IOM, Trackmaster
- Must demonstrate a good understanding of Quality Assurance and be able to apply this knowledge at the right time to ensure good quality results
- Must understand pre-analytical procedures including specimen receipt, proper handling, proper preparation in relation to Quality Assurance
- Registered Laboratory Assistant (OSMT)
- Previous laboratory experience (Chemistry)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while adhering to LifeLabs standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency
- Vaccinations and/or immunization screening
Desired Qualifications
- Preference will be given to someone with Beckmann Coulter Automate experience
- Previous laboratory experience preferred (Chemistry)
