Medical Lab Technician/ Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary

Perform clinical laboratory testing for physicians and facilities by handling specimens, processing analyses, and maintaining accurate patient result records. Execute routine and complex test procedures requiring professional judgment, while calibrating instruments, performing preventive maintenance, and documenting quality control activities. Verify all test results for technical and clerical errors, managing delta checks, redraws, and rejections based on hemolysis or clotting. Collaborate with nurses and physicians to communicate findings, assist with inventory management, and implement technical changes approved by the Laboratory Director. Work Monday through Friday evening and overnight shifts from 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., rotating holidays, with a preference for one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Medical Laboratory Science, microbiology, chemistry, biology or related field
  • Certification as MLS, MLT, CLS, MT or equivalent by a national recognized accreditation agency such as ASCP, AMT, AAB
  • Must meet CLIA requirements for testing personnel for High Complexity Testing Laboratory
  • Full time, Monday-Friday Evening/Overnight shift 5:00p- 1:30a and rotating holiday

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 yr of clinical laboratory experience
  • Have the necessary language reasoning and mathematical skills to follow and implement the laboratory policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director
  • Ability to work independently and have good sound analytical judgment to function effectively under stress in certain situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment, effectively interacting with physicians, facilities and laboratory personnel
  • Possess speed, consistency and accuracy in tasks to meet the laboratory standards
  • Customer service oriented
  • Self starter with a high initiative, a good problem and decision-maker
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment, performing a variety of changing tasks
  • Commitment to tasks. Displaying a high level of cognitive, interpretive or judgment skills
