Job Summary
Conduct accurate and timely testing of waived and non-waived tests according to CLIA '88 and department policies. Perform specimen collection, receipt, and processing while ensuring correct patient identification and specimen integrity. Monitor abnormal patient and QC results, document deviations from defined procedures, and participate in quality assurance and process improvement activities. Manage inventory, control supplies, and provide input to decrease costs and improve productivity. Act as a department resource by training new employees, participating in staff meetings, and providing educational information to internal and external customers. Work the evening shift in Sun City West, Arizona, reporting to a department supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science
- Certification (MLS or categorical)
- Detailed credential evaluation from IERF or other nationally recognized credentialing agency
- Bachelor's degree with one year of experience in Toxicology, HLA, HCTT
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy
- Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489
- Meet other criteria defined in 42CFR493.1489 or 42CFR493.1491
- Certification throughout their time in position (for Nevada or California residents)
Desired Qualifications
- MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB)
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing
- Additional related education and/or experience
