Job Summary
The Medical Lab Technician I position involves performing waived and non-waived tests in compliance with CLIA regulations, managing the accuracy of test results, and participating in departmental quality assurance activities. Key responsibilities include conducting testing, calibrating equipment, ensuring the validity of results, managing inventory, and training laboratory personnel. Candidates must possess an associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field and demonstrate competency in phlebotomy when necessary. Prior certification and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulations
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a credential evaluation and translated diploma
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in applicable departments
Desired Qualifications
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB)
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and specimen processing
- Additional related education and/or experience
