Job Summary
The Medical Lab Technician conducts routine and high- and moderate-complexity diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis. Responsibilities include operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment; performing and evaluating quality control; documenting results in the LIS; collecting blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques with proper patient identification and specimen labeling; investigating and resolving issues related to specimen collection and testing; training students and new personnel; and ensuring safety, compliance, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR Technical School completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks minimum) and holding the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist
- 0-2 years of acute clinical laboratory experience preferred
- Licenses and Certifications: MLT-Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) OR MLT - Medical Lab Technician (AAB/HEW) OR Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (AMT) OR State license where applicable
