Job Summary
Medical Lab Technician (MLT) at Nantucket Cottage Hospital focused on microbiology and blood bank generalist functions. Responsibilities include performing and evaluating complex laboratory tests, operating precision instruments and automated equipment, conducting quality control procedures, documenting results, reporting critical values, and ensuring compliance with department policies (Universal Precautions, QA documentation, Hazardous Waste). Provides proficiency testing, maintains instrument logs, performs routine maintenance, assists in training new employees, and supports quality assurance and safety initiatives. Schedule includes Sat/Sun/Mon from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm with on-call requirements. Requires associate degree and ASCP certification or equivalent registration; 6 months to 1 year of MLT experience preferred; hospital lab environment; ability to lift up to 40 pounds; strong teamwork and communication skills; on-site, day/evening shifts.
Required Qualifications

- ASCP certification (MLT) OR equivalent registration (AMT, HEW) OR registration application within 6 months of employment
- Six months to one-year experience as an MLT preferred but will consider a new graduate
