Job Summary
Organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, and checking delivery. Maintain quality results by running standards, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance, and operating chemistry equipment to provide test results for diagnosis and treatment. Ensure patient safety by completing blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing. Serve as a technical resource by participating in staff training and alert supervisory personnel of abnormal conditions. Communicate with patients to guide them through examinations and educate them on health issues while maintaining confidentiality. Report to the Director of the laboratory at Greater El Monte, a 24/7 emergency provider serving the community for over 40 years.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in medical technology
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of medical laboratory experience
- Clinical state license
- MLT - License
- BCLS
- MAB
- Attention to detail
- Communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to educate patients and families on health issues
