Medical Lab Scientist, with Transfusion Services, Core Lab

Job Summary
Perform laboratory testing in Transfusion Services, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Body Fluids using Erytra, Sysmex XN 9000, Beckman Coulter DxC, and other instrumentation. Prepare samples, determine acceptability, repeat analysis as needed, and report results via computer and telephone. Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment while evaluating quality control data. Operate Beaker, WellSky, and EPIC/Beaker software to answer telephone requests for laboratory information. Train new employees, students, and residents. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays across multiple hospital sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Chemical or Biological field
- current certification MT (ASCP), or MLS (ASCP)
- Certification as MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or by AMT
- Completion of a 2-year accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program
- MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification
- 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- four years' experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a clinical laboratory performing testing and related tasks
- Current certification and credential maintenance
- working flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays
- working at multiple laboratory or hospital sites
- traveling between laboratories and sites
- exposure to blood and body fluids
- chemical hazards
- radiation
- working in a somewhat noisy and crowded environment
- wearing gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or by AMT
- Generalist experience in Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and limited Microbiology within last two years
- Applicants with recent experience in only Hematology
