Medical Lab Scientist, with Transfusion Services, Core Lab

Job Summary
Conduct laboratory testing across Transfusion Services, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Body Fluids using Erytra, Sysmex XN 9000, Beckman Coulter, and other instrumentation. Prepare specimens, determine acceptability, repeat analyses for accuracy, and report results via computer and telephone. Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments while performing and evaluating quality control data. Manage computer functions using Beaker, WellSky, and EPIC/Beaker software, and answer telephone requests for laboratory information. Train new employees, students, and residents. Perform all duties with accuracy, speed, and efficiency following written procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Chemical or Biological field
- current certification MT (ASCP), or MLS (ASCP) within 90 days of hire
- Completion of a 2-year accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program
- MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification within 90 days of hire
- 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- four years' experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a clinical laboratory performing testing and related tasks
- Current certification and credential maintenance must be maintained for individuals who were certified after January 1, 2004
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or by AMT preferred
- Generalist experience in Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and limited Microbiology within last two years preferred
- Applicants with recent experience in only Hematology will be considered
