Job Summary
Perform laboratory tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease under the supervision of Technical and Shift Supervisors. Follow all hospital policies, guidelines, procedures, and protocols. May assume charge duties in the absence of a Supervisor. This PRN position is located in the Blood Bank. Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Florida Statute 61F-5 is required, or must be obtained within ninety days of hire. A Bachelor's degree in health science or five years of relevant experience is required; employees hired prior to 1/1/09 are grandfathered. Limited scope of practice applies until licensure, excluding results entry. One year of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health science program or medical laboratory science
- Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute: 61F-5
- Must obtain MLS license within ninety (90) days of hire date
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications and office
- Qualification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or an equivalent medical laboratory scientist
