Job Summary
Independently perform laboratory procedures and testing on patients of all ages, executing, interpreting, and analyzing results accurately and timely. Oversee technical activities of the section or department in the absence of the lead or supervisor. Requires H.S. Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred, and 3 years of clinical laboratory experience with ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification. Schedule is PRN within Piedmont Columbus Midtown.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency
- 3 years in a clinical laboratory setting
- Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts)
- A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia may be temporarily classified as technologists for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.)
Additional Requirements
- AAB provisional certification not accepted
