Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) provides on-site laboratory services at Lexington Medical Center's LH Chapin Lab. Responsibilities include performing manual and automated laboratory testing, collecting specimens (including venipunctures) from patients of varying ages, calibrating instruments, performing quality control, reviewing data and results for accuracy, interpreting results, and initiating appropriate follow-up actions. The MLS will work within established policies, ensure safety compliance, maintain documentation, and participate in training of new staff and students. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient care support, and continuing education to sustain national certification and LMC requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science
- Active MT/MLS certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent
- Certification within one year of hire for registry-eligible candidates
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
- Active Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS) certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent
- Registry eligible candidates may be considered but must obtain certification within one year of hire
