Job Summary
Conduct a variety of laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid in disease diagnosis and treatment. Interpret test results, operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy. Prepare biological samples following strict protocols, record data, and troubleshoot analyzer issues while adhering to safety guidelines. Collaborate with doctors and nurses to discuss findings and assist in patient care decisions. Work in the Chemistry department with flexibility for overnights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Medical Lab Scientist
- Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology science or chemical, physical, biological, or equivalent
- Education must be obtained through an accredited institution
- Completion of course work and internship requirements in a qualified MLS program and eligibility to sit for the BOC
- Certification must be completed and documented within 6 months of hire to remain in the registered MLS role
- Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist ASCP certification or equivalent certification as approved by Manager and Human Resources
- Certification must be maintained to remain in job
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights and on-call
- Montana applicants must have state licensure or temporary state licensure
- Foreign applicants must submit a foreign transcript evaluation by an acceptable agency approved by Laboratory Quality Assurance
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers at sites that require certification
- Associates degree or at least 60 semester hours of an accredited MLT program along with national certification, MLT (ASCP or approved accrediting agency), or equivalent (military) certification as determined by Manager
- Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution
- Completion of course work and internship requirements in a qualified MLT program and eligibility to sit for the BOC
- Certification must be completed and documented within 6 months of hire to remain in the registered MLS role
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays and nights
- Montana Sites must have Montana State License
- Can apply for temporary state license if waiting to sit for BOC
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with laboratory information systems
- Experience in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory
- Demonstrated ability to use laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets
- Demonstrated effective communication skills using email, telephone, and in person
