Medical Lab Scientist - Core Lab Nights

Job Summary
Analyze patient, control, and proficiency testing specimens to record results accurately and timely. Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation while documenting operations. Prepare, label, and store reagents and specimens; perform phlebotomy and sample collection as applicable. Review and correlate test results to identify abnormal or critical values, verifying accuracy and initiating corrective actions. Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, complete continuing education, and mentor students and healthcare providers. Maintain adequate inventory supplies and adhere to regulatory, safety, and hospital standards. Perform product preparations in compliance with FDA, cGMP, and AABB standards. Use personal protective equipment to minimize risk. Float to other locations throughout the organization as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology from an accredited institution
- High School Graduate
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) , AMT or equivalent or eligible (must be completed within 6 months of hire) within 180 Days
- Meets the CLIA requirements for high complexity testing
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- The employee may be required to float to other locations throughout the organization
