Job Summary
Collect venous and capillary blood specimens, process waived point-of-care tests, and accurately label and transport samples while maintaining patient confidentiality. Perform routine phlebotomy, specimen processing, and documentation across hospital and outreach clinic settings. Manage independent workflows, troubleshoot common issues, and support billing elements under established procedures. Provide outreach specimen triage, extended coverage, and mentorship as a senior level. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA standards while ensuring a clean, safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NHA, or equivalent) or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe per policy
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to learn and comply with laboratory and clinical systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Ability to bend
- Ability to reach
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- 0–1 years of relevant laboratory or phlebotomy experience
- 2-3 years of experience
- 4–5+ years of relevant experience
- Relevant certifications
- Documented competency assessments
- Successful completion of waived testing validations
- Cross-training across hospital and outreach settings
- Demonstrated performance at the next tier
