Job Summary
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist with routine specimen processing, set up automated instruments, perform quality control procedures on instruments, and conduct routine testing on automated instruments. Document clearly and thoroughly, participate in the facility's Quality Assurance program, and support special projects as directed by Management. The role involves handling specimens, processing in accordance with established protocols, performing test preparation and verification, and performing related clerical tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required, college preferred
- Background in chemistry, math, medical terminology, knowledge of specimen preparation techniques, and principles of operation of common laboratory instruments
- Capability of performing repetitive work with a high degree of precision
- Capability of working biologic specimens in a safe manner
- Able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate
