Job Summary
Conduct high-quality CT imaging procedures for patients and physicians in a safe, clean environment while strictly adhering to radiation safety and ALARA principles. Verify patient identification and physician orders before each study, screen female patients aged 12-50 for pregnancy, and document allergies and medical history for those receiving intravenous contrast. Physically manipulate equipment, assist with patient transport between wheelchairs, stretchers, and tables, and monitor patient comfort and coverage during exams. Make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations, communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff, and maintain dignity by ensuring proper patient coverage at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology
- Accreditation through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Compliance with CE Requirements
- Registration in the subspecialty of CT or registry eligible with ability to pass CT registry within 6 months of hire date
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- Possesses the ability to physically manipulate and operate equipment
- Ability to assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop
- Ability to lift 20 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations
- Demonstration of emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow workers, patients, their families, and physicians
- Willingness to take call for STAT, Urgent, or Routine studies after hours and on weekends when needed
- Ability to check patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study
- Ability to question female patients (ages 12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly document information in record
- Ability to question all patients who receive intravenous contrast media and document information regarding allergies and medical history
- Ability to provide proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to include self
- Ability to follow ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISLEY
- Ability to communicate potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services
- Ability to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport
- Ability to check often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management)
- Ability to show leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and make appropriate decisions
- Ability to ensure the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and watching patient while on table
- Ability to perform high quality studies consistently
- Ability to work well with fellow employees to provide the most efficient use of the equipment and ensure that all requests from physicians and patients are completed
Desired Qualifications
- One year work experience in hospital environment working in CT after graduation and accreditation
- Experience working with GE CT equipment
