Job Summary
Designs treatment plans by means of computer planning systems and manual calculation to deliver prescribed radiation doses; designs field placement techniques per Radiation Oncologist prescription for defined tumor volumes with dose-limiting structures in mind; supports simulations and tumor localization on CT, MRI, and PET; assists in planning and fabrication of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, shields, and other beam-modifying devices; supports therapists in implementing treatment plans including immobilization devices usage, field arrangement, and other treatment variables; documents all pertinent information in patient records and verifies calculations; teaches applied dosimetry concepts to students/residents; participates in clinical research for new techniques; required MDCB certification and one year of planning experience; preferred bachelor's degree in physical/biological sciences and ARRT certification; strong emphasis on oncology knowledge, collaboration, patient care, and clinical processes.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in Medical Dosimetry by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
- One year of treatment planning experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in physical or biological sciences (AR RT eligibility)
- ARRT certification
- Experience with Brachytherapy
