Job Summary
Faculty attending physician in a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program at UPMC Altoona. Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with ABFM/AOBFP certification and board eligibility or certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The role involves inpatient consults, outpatient palliative clinic work, and care in local nursing homes within a university-affiliated, rurally oriented program. The fellowship has a strong hands-on training component, opportunities for involvement with residents and geriatric rotations, and collaboration with subspecialists under the UPMC Graduate Medical Education umbrella. Located in Central Pennsylvania (Altoona), within an established, collegial team that includes physicians, APPs, a social worker, a pharmacist, and administrative staff; committed to quality, safety, dignity, and innovation in end-of-life care.
Required Qualifications
- ABFM or AOBFP board-certified in Family Medicine; board eligibility or board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Fellowship program affiliation with UPMC Altoona; part of UPMC Graduate Medical Education
- Experience in academic medicine preferred but not required
- Inpatient consultation and management services; outpatient palliative clinic; care for patients in local nursing homes
- Participation in geriatric rotations and oversight of residents when applicable
