Job Summary
Medical Director role in a small-animal GP hospital in Rhode Island combining hands-on clinical practice with leadership responsibilities. You’ll set and uphold medical quality standards, mentor and manage veterinarians and staff, guide hospital operations with the Practice Manager, ensure accurate medical records and compliant charging, lead regular doctor meetings, and collaborate on strategic initiatives to improve patient outcomes and client trust. The position emphasizes clinical leadership, quality of care, staff development, community engagement, and driving hospital performance while maintaining a hands-on caseload. Relocation assistance and sign-on bonuses are available, along with a competitive salary up to $180,000 plus production bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
- Active licensure without restrictions in the state of practice
- Active DEA Registration for responsible practice location(s)
- Any required state-controlled substance, pharmacy, or other licenses and/or registrations as required
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian
- Preferred minimum of 1 year of experience leading a veterinary team and/or multi-unit experience
- Commitment to a minimum of 35 hours per week
