Job Summary
Develop trauma policies, protocols, and practice guidelines while overseeing program growth and administrative oversight. Direct integration of the trauma program with hospital departments, manage physician case management, and lead efforts to develop and maintain a trauma center. Chair the Morbidity and Mortality Committee, coordinate peer review processes, and review all trauma-related inquiries. Provide trauma care leadership and consultation for emergency, surgery, and ICU departments, ensuring adequate attending physician availability and establishing call schedules. Monitor compliance with regulatory agencies and Joint Commission standards, evaluate corrective actions, and assume clinical responsibility for all trauma patients. Participate in regional activities, attend national conferences, and support trauma CME requirements for hospital personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Board-certified in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or General Surgery
- Member in good standing of the hospital medical staff
- Currently certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS) + Benchmark Lab or Trauma Module
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Trauma Nurse Core Course Provider (TNCC-P)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- DEA License
- Three years of clinical experience in emergency/trauma care
- Two years of administrative experience
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions
- Demonstrated history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, hospital-based providers, administrators, and patients
- Possess critical thinking, analytical, teaching/coaching, and research skills
