Job Summary
The Medical Director will lead clinical excellence, provider engagement, and value-based care transformation at Mat-Su Health Services, overseeing physicians, PAs, and clinical teams. This role, which comprises approximately 60% administrative and 40% clinical responsibilities, includes driving quality improvement initiatives, establishing evidence-based care standards, and collaborating on strategic planning. Qualified candidates should be MD or DO holders with board certification, possess at least 2 years of clinical experience, and demonstrate leadership capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited program
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency (Family Medicine preferred)
- Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Eligible for or licensed in the State of Alaska
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role

- Proven ability in clinical practice
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with patients, medical staff, clinical support and administrative staff
- Ability to build consensus and work in a team setting
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Commitment to delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care
- Ability to follow projects through to completion in a timely manner
- Understanding of group financial and management operations
- Ability to cultivate mindfulness towards the agency mission, vision, and values in supervisees
Additional Requirements
- Clear background check
- Current driver’s license; clear driving record history
- Current tuberculosis screening test result
- CPR certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire
- CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification must be obtained when offered through the agency; may substitute current MANDT certificate for CPI
