Job Summary
Medical Director (Behavioral Health) leads clinical strategy and oversight for behavioral health services across multiple health plans, directing medical management, case management, and utilization management programs. Responsibilities include physician oversight of an interdisciplinary UM team across inpatient to outpatient levels, ensuring medically necessary, cost-effective care; developing and implementing UM program action plans; ensuring adherence to clinical standards and accreditation requirements (NCQA, URAC); collaborating with practitioners, facilities, and client organizations; leading quality improvement and policy development; and providing after-hours coverage. Requirements include board-certified psychiatry, Idaho medical license (and license in the resident state if outside ID), eligibility for US-based internship/residency, and relevant clinical leadership experience. Salary range: $200,280–$360,500 with potential incentives and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications

- willing to work Mountain Time hours
- MD or DO or MBBS with US internship/residency
- ACGME-approved residency
- ECFMG and FLEX exam completion for international graduates
- unrestricted current and valid license to practice medicine in US
