Job Summary
Review shipping notices and orders to determine priorities and shipping methods. Receive and carry out blood orders from hospitals and customers, then inspect and evaluate products to ensure safety and potency. Package and deliver blood products to service area clients or transportation agencies while running errands, delivering documents, and picking up supplies. Assist the Hospital Services Team Leader with resolving problems according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures. Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This role supports LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, a non-profit serving over 150 hospitals across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. The position requires a second shift (3:00pm to 11:30pm), five days a week, with some night, weekend, and on-call hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements
- Must be able to work a varied schedule
- Some night, weekend and on-call hours are required
- Ability to organize and manage time effectively
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Must be able to do basic math, including addition, subtraction, proportion, percentages, etc.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 70 pounds, grasping and repetitive motion
- Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting
