Job Summary
Evaluate, facilitate, and oversee all aspects of unaccompanied children's medical care, including disease prevention, health upkeep, and timely intervention. Collaborate with medical providers to ensure licensing compliance, medication management, and immunization standards. Schedule and provide transportation for appointments, attend examinations when needed, and dispense prescribed medications per policy. Immediately respond to emergency medical needs and educate children on disease prevention and treatment. Maintain accurate medical file documentation in databases and hard copies while adhering to HIPAA and local, state, and federal regulations. Work with management teams to ensure successful communication and coordination across all departments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of employment in public healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care
- Licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN)
- Higher health-related qualification (Licensed Registered Nurse)
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- License to practice must be current and accepted in the state of employment
- Supervisory experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Flexible schedule (evening, weekends, holidays) to facilitate program services
- Cleared tuberculosis test results
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must be able to provide proof of required vaccinations
- Cleared background checks from appropriate entities, including Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI criminal background
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required
- Must maintain current LVN/LPN Licensure in the practicing state
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds infrequently
- Must be able to perform physical holds as instructed in Crisis Prevention Intervention training (CPI)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a medical coordinator in a UC shelter setting is highly preferred
