Job Summary

As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely charge entry by coding inpatient, outpatient surgery, and observation visits using ICD-9-CM and CPT systems. Responsibilities include training new coding technicians, ensuring compliance with regulatory coding standards, and promoting guest relations policies. Candidates must have a high school diploma, three years of inpatient coding experience, and relevant coding certifications (RHIT, RHIA, or CCS). Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of 3M software are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience required
  • Must possess one of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Formalized education and training through an accredited coding program is mandatory

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of 3M Encoding and Grouping software
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to coding
