Job Summary
Medical Coder responsible for accurately attaching images to the correct electronic health record elements, verifying image uploads, locating Financial Identification Numbers (FINs) and linking documents to veteran records, and indexing documents by section, note title, date of service, and visit location. Performs 100% internal QA on all work before submission. Requires knowledge of Cerner/Oracle or comparable EHR systems, strong data-entry skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. VA or federal healthcare coding experience is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Active coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent) required.
- Ability to locate FINs and link documents to veteran records in Cerner/Oracle.
- Ability to index documents within the correct section, note title, date of service, and visit location of the health record.
- Data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of computers, specifically Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Prior experience with Cerner/Oracle or comparable EHR document management systems preferred.
- Prior experience with VA or federal healthcare coding strongly preferred.
