Job Summary
Performs coding on all diagnoses, procedures, professional services, and supplies following AMA coding/reporting guidelines and other payer criteria for reimbursement, research, and regulatory compliance. Answers coding questions from non-clinical staff. Runs reports and monitors charges to ensure timely, accurate coding of medical and behavioral health services and charges. Collaborates to develop programs and plans for training medical staff in basic coding techniques.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six (6) months of medical coding experience in ICD-10-CM
- Six (6) months of medical coding experience in CPT-4
- Six (6) months of medical coding experience in E&M
- Six (6) months of medical coding experience in HCPCS
- Equivalent combination of desired education/certification and work experience
