Job Summary
Medical Coder reviews patient records and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing and insurance purposes, ensuring coding accuracy and compliance with HIPAA/CMS. Responsibilities include analyzing records, interpreting doctor notes and test results to determine appropriate codes, inputting data into EHR/coding software, and assisting with corrected denied claims. Requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, and CPC/CCS/CIC/COC certification along with a bachelor’s degree. Based in Hyderabad, India; the role emphasizes compliance, timely coding, and staying updated on coding standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field
- 2–3 years of relevant experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC, or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
- Awareness of HIPAA and CMS guidelines
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in fast-paced healthcare environment
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and coding software
