Job Summary
Review and validate medical coding sets by translating diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Ensure compliance with VA coding policies and billing requirements while staying current on coding updates and CCN Next Gen-specific mandates. Perform quality assurance, audits, and discrepancy corrections, then prepare coding reports and participate in coding-related meetings. Hold a required certificate program with three years of experience and AHIMA or AAPC certification. No sponsorship available.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate Program required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience required
- AHIMA or AAPC Apprentice/Associate Certification
- AHIMA or AAPC Mastery-Level Certification
- AHIMA or ACDIS Clinical Documentation Improvement Certification
- Strong understanding of VHA coding systems and code sets
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
