Job Summary
Medical Claims Specialist responsible for gathering and processing information required to complete the medical insurance claims process, documenting and entering data in company systems, monitoring and submitting claims, composing letters of appeal with payer citations, reviewing policy changes (HCPCS), and addressing denials and zero pays. The role requires knowledge of payer portals, HIPAA compliance, and the ability to work in a hybrid/remote setup with travel as needed; works within South Bend, IN area and broader US as indicated by the hybrid/remote arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Experience in hospital or inpatient claims processing
- Medical office experience and medical terminology preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) or medical software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
