Job Summary
Medical Billing Specialist – Insurance AR on-site in Tacoma, WA responsible for insurance A/R follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement. Key duties include appeals handling, patient and payer inquiries, posting and balancing remittances, reviewing eligibility and claim status, auditing claims, and preparing accounts for collection when needed. Requires extensive medical insurance billing experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and commitment to HIPAA. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., 100% on-site at the centralized Tacoma billing office. OSS emphasizes equal opportunity employment and a thorough background screening for offers.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in medical insurance billing and follow-up
- Experience in healthcare accounts receivable/collections (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Persuasive and professional customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks effectively
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, payers, and internal staff
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following all HIPAA regulations
- Ability to represent OSS professionally at all times
