Job Summary
Medical Billing & Collections Specialist for a part-time ambulatory surgery center. Responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, conducting coding/audit reviews, performing and overseeing billing processes (primary/secondary/rebilling), ensuring government payer compliance (Medicare/Medicaid/VA), monitoring claim transmission, collaborating with vendors to resolve workflow issues, following up on billed patient accounts to collect balances, posting payments, adjudicating EOBs/RA, handling denials and appeals, and contributing to KPIs for financial performance. Requires knowledge of HIPAA, CPT/ICD-10 coding, EMR systems, and ASC billing; strong typing and Microsoft Office skills; ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed; high school diploma with an associate or coding certification preferred; 2-5 years of medical experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- An Associate degree, suitable Trade School or Coding Certification preferred
- 2-5 years' experience in a medical environment
- Strong medical terminology knowledge
- CPT and ICD-10 codes knowledge
- EMR experience required
