Job Summary
Entry-level Medical Billing Clerk responsible for submitting claims with a goal of zero errors, verifying completeness and accuracy of claims prior to submission, attaching required documents (authorizations, medical records, fee tickets), obtaining medical records, performing data-entry corrections, auditing paper claims, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and knowledge of CPT/ICD codes, Medicare/Medicaid/Workman’s Comp insurance, Microsoft Office (Excel), and NextGen. Works under supportive leadership in a team-oriented environment and participates in ongoing education and productivity reporting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with Excel skills
- Working knowledge of the NextGen System
- Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workman’s Comp Insurance Knowledge
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Attention to HIPAA guidelines and Federal Privacy Law
- Data entry and auditing capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects
