Job Summary
Create and submit claim batches within MyUnity, verify insurance coverage, and obtain authorizations prior to admission. Review coding for accuracy, post charges and payments, and resolve claim rejections or refunds. Monitor Medicare regulation changes, submit electronic claims (EDI), and escalate complex denial trends to the manager. This role ensures accurate billing for Buckner Retirement Services Communities while maintaining HIPAA compliance. You will drive a vehicle as needed for community support.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or G.E.D.)
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- At least one year of experience handling SNF, AL, IL and MC claims across various specialties
- Understanding of the ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes and E/M coding guidelines
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and 3rd party payers
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
- Ability to set priorities and work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide range of information
- Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings
- Works effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, and external partners
- High ethical standards with a focus on integrity, accountability, and transparency
- Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable
- Must provide proof of liability insurance
- Must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance
- Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner
- Must be available for some travel to assist other communities
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years prior related experience performing medical billing and coding tasks
