Medical Billing Assistant - Compliance Audit

Job Summary
Review Medicaid regulations, state autism insurance mandates, and payer policies for all 50 states to ensure compliance with local, federal, and Medicaid ABA guidelines. Audit medical records to verify billed services are supported by documentation, then draft appeal letters in response to audits and summarize payer contract findings. Perform coding for OT, PT, SLP, psychological testing, and developmental assessments while maintaining current laws and procedures across all jurisdictions. Work remotely as an independent contractor on a night shift schedule (Monday–Thursday 8:45am–5pm NYT, Friday 8:45am–3:45pm NYT) with backup power supply and reliable internet. Requires a two-year college degree and two years of US-based medical billing experience.
Required Qualifications
- 2-year college degree
- 2-year experience in US-based medical billing practice or 2-year experience in a medical practice dealing with billing including but not limited to, provider credentialing, auth, reimbursement, etc. preferably in Behavioral Health to some degree
- Must have backup power supply (extra laptop/power bank/generator/UPS/reside near a coworking space)
- Detail orientated with above-average organizational skill
- Able to plan and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Communicates clearly and effectively
- Excellent reading comprehension
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word
- Thorough understanding of navigating the internet
