Medical Biller/Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Summary
Enter charge data into Patient Keeper billing interface, generate and submit electronic claims, and review unpaid, rejected, or underpaid claims to identify errors and submit formal appeals. Report missing charges or documentation to the supervisor or provider, work TES and department review work files, and investigate claim denials, rejections, and payment variances. Collaborate with providers and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies, respond to patient billing inquiries, and process refunds while prioritizing accounts based on timely filing limits. Maintain Patient Keeper files for validity errors and complete special department projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical Billing & Coding Certificate
- In lieu of certificate, minimum of three years medical billing related experience
- Must be able to recognize and establish priorities and provide coverage of other areas as necessary
- Must understand and uphold HIPAA regulations
- Must communicate effectively and professionally through written correspondence and personal conversations
- Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement and medical terminology
- Experience with an Electronic Medical Record system
- Must be highly organized
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must have manual dexterity to work on a computer systems and keyboard
