Job Summary
Gather required medical information and time-frames for referrals, tests, and procedures. Verify patient insurance and plan coverage pertinent to authorization information. Work closely with the Utilization Department to ensure clinical information is received for ER, inpatient, and observation stays, following up until all admission days are approved. Track authorizations and referrals through completion, documenting status in the Electronic Health Record and ensuring accurate CPT coding for scheduling. Respond timely to assigned work queues to acquire prior authorizations. Requires high school diploma, two years office experience, and preferred insurance/authorization background.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- At least two years experience in an office setting
