Job Summary
Experienced Medical Authorization/Surgical Precertification Specialist needed to obtain prior authorizations for surgical cases, MRIs, or injections; Epic EMR experience required; onsite with some remote days; duties include communicating with insurance companies, entering authorizations via online portals, gathering demographic and insurance details, coordinating with physicians for peer-to-peer reviews, assisting patients and staff, verifying demographic and eligibility information, and performing other duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years medical prior orthopedic authorization experience preferred
- Previous experience with Epic EMR systems
- A proven track record of being able to handle multiple priorities in a pro-active manner
- Ability to stay current in an automated work queue with assigned cases
- Clear and concise documentation skills
- Superior written, oral communication, and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and able to prioritize and multi-task
- Able to follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team
