Job Summary
Conduct office-based procedures following aseptic technique, hand off instruments, and assist with obtaining, labeling, and sending specimens. Perform low and high-level disinfection, point-of-care testing, and enter orders into the computer. Room patients, set up exam rooms, and assemble supplies and instruments as indicated by the physician. Administer limited medications per approved policy, draw blood, collect specimens, and perform simple diagnostic tests. Maintain sterile environments, chaperone intimate examinations, and observe patients for symptoms requiring immediate team action. Requires current Medical Assistant Certification, AHA BLS certification, and one year of work experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Current Medical Assistant Certification in one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Successful completion of all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency
