Job Summary
Coordinate patient care, examination, and health planning under provider supervision by preparing rooms, obtaining vital signs, and documenting history and medication screens in the EHR. Assist with depression screenings, back office testing, and administering medications while ensuring exam areas are stocked and instruments are sterilized per policy. Perform lab controls, update social histories, and provide follow-up communications to patients regarding test results. May float between physician office locations and serve as a scribe with additional training. This role supports the Allegheny Health Network's regional physician network in Pittsburgh, focusing on women's health services.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School / GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program Certification
- Certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire
- Obtain certification within 120 days of hire
- Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Compliance with Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
- Adherence to applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations
- Compliance with company policies and training requirements
- Ability to comply with both the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) as described in the Notice of Privacy Practices and Privacy Policies and Procedures
- Adherence to applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as well as company policies and training requirements
