Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow by assisting the doctor in preliminary testing, verifying medical and vision insurances, and answering inquiries via phone, email, and in-person requests. Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and managers while recording medical history, medications, and visit purposes in the Electronic Medical Record. Check eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, and visual acuity, performing diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, and imaging such as OCT and topography. Maintain professional attitudes, greet patients promptly, and comply with all policies including HIPAA. Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned. Full-time hours Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm, with variable shifts and occasional early or late coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
